This 7-day, mid-range itinerary takes you on a journey through Tanzania’s unrivaled wildlife destinations – Tarangire, Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Crater, and the fabled Serengeti – to deliver a dramatic and diverse big game safari. Begin your adventure by exploring the elephant’s paradise and see these increasable creatures in their natural habitats, before moving on to encounter the spectacle of the Ngorongoro Crater floor, home to Africa’s Big 5. The sweeping plains of the Serengeti provide a backdrop for the tour’s grand finale. Game viewing is superb all year round, but if you time your safari with the wildebeest migration, you can expect massed herds and plenty of predator action.

Day 1:

Arusha to Tarangire national park.

Two days exploring Tarangire

You leave Arusha after breakfast with a picnic lunch packed safely away. The Rift Valley landscape drifts past as your guide heads for Tarangire National Park, the least visited reserve on the itinerary, but one capable of delivering fantastic game viewing. Home to Tanzania’s biggest elephant population, Tarangire supports large numbers of buffalo, giraffe, zebra, and many antelope species, most evident during the dry season when concentrations of animals at the life-giving Tarangire River are at their peak. Your accommodation Sangaiwe Tented camp –lies on the edge of the park a corridor to the elephants when they are moving out of the park. From here you will explore the park’s rich habitat for two days, and during the months of June-October, the park burst into life as all the migratory wildebeest, zebra, kudu, Oryx, and eland are called by the life-giving Tarangire River.

Day 2:

Full day exploring Tarangire National Park

This day will be spent entirely on game viewing through the park exploring the park’s vast habitats and landscape up to the Silalei swamp which during the dry season offers green pasture and water for the grazers and the predators follow them here. During the months of (June to November) when we have the seasonal migration of wildebeest and zebras the park bust into life with possibly the biggest concentration of wildlife outside Serengeti national park and the largest population of elephants per square kilometer in the world. Other sightings will include lions, cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, and buffaloes and if you are lucky the rare wild dogs are found here. In the late afternoon stop for your bush sundowner drinks which will be made by your guide.

Day 3:

Tarangire National Park to Manyara National Park.

Leaving the camp after a relaxed breakfast we drive north passing some Mbugwe villages as your guides give the orientation of Tanzania people and culture, before long you will reach the village of Mayoka the last village bordering the park from the southern entrance. Exploring Lake Manyara national park from the south gives one a chance to explore the whole park in one go, nestled under the Great Rift Valley is a small game area with a biggest diversity of habitat than the big Serengeti national park. A spectacular part of Africa’s Great Rift Valley, Lake Manyara’s rich variety of natural habitats are set around the soda lake, itself a haven for clouds of pink flamingos and other water birds. This is a paradise for birding enthusiasts! The forested valleys and open savannah plains support a large elephant population as well as giraffes, buffalo, and many antelope species. There are fewer predators but topping the list are Lake Manyara’s lions, famous for their habit of climbing trees.

Day 4:

Karatu to Serengeti National Park.

After a leisurely breakfast at the camp, we set out for the endless open plains and stunning skies of Serengeti National Park – a famous migration corridor and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you’ll have a chance to witness the great migration of wildebeest and zebra. Depending on the time of the year, the migration is within the southern grass plains and the central part during the months of (December-May). Within these two days, we will explore the park’s rich habitats for the big cats who rule the plains, Serengeti is home to lions, leopards, hippos, cheetahs, giraffes, elands, warthog, and hyrax. The plains are dotted with mammoth rock out-crop, swamps, valleys, acacia tree lines, and River-line habitats, in the central part, marking game-viewing good throughout the year. Day 5:

Full-day Serengeti National Park

This entire day is set aside for game drives upon the Serengeti. The Serengeti, the habitat of an abundance of wildlife such as impala, buffalo, crocodile, and hippo, is more well-known for its great migrating herds of zebra, antelope, and wildebeest. The animals’ trek is determined by the rainfall and varies from year to year. In November and December, the animals move from the northern region, dominated by woodlands and hills, to the grassy plains of the south. During the longer rainy season from April to June, they return to the north. Apart from the migrating herds, we may have the opportunity to see the resident predators, leopard, cheetah, and lion, fulfilling their role in the circle of life.

After an unforgettable day, we will return to our accommodation for, dinner and our overnight sleep on The Endless Plain.

Day 6:

Serengeti to Ngorongoro crater tour

Today you will wake up very early to do an early morning safari before breakfast, to spot the animals when they are more active, and also to have a fantastic sun rise in front of you. The sunrise in the African Savannah is one of the most beautiful experiences one can have. You will then travel to Ngorongoro Crater, inhabited by almost every species of wildlife indigenous to East Africa including the rare black rhino. The crater has the greatest concentration of wildlife on the planet. It contains a river, several swamps, a soda lake that, from the top, looks like steam, full of flamingos, a forest, and open plains. The large bull elephants that reside here have extremely large tusks, due to the rich mineral content of the volcanic soil and its grasses.

After a full day, you will return to a lodge in Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7:

Karatu to Arusha Town.

After a relaxed breakfast at the lodge, head to the Gibbs area for walking. For those who love nature, the elephant caves of the Ngorongoro Highlands are a must. Our clients love these caves and their nearby waterfalls, and we often plan a visit for the day after the game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater. The walk will take you past waterfalls that tumble down the cliffs in several places along the route and your guide is very knowledgeable about the medical effects of the plants that grow in this tropical rainforest. After the walk proceeds to the village of Mto wa Mbu, and enjoy your local lunch followed by a village tour. When all the activities on offer are finished you will drive back to Arusha, and you will be dropped at your accommodation or airport for your own-ward connection
