Overview.

This is a Migration itinerary backed up by some of the best wildlife viewing in Africa. When you are not watching the Migration, you will be on the lookout for the Big 5 in the Ngorongoro Crater – lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and elephant – and enjoying diverse wildlife sightings throughout the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. Predators – like all the big cats, wild dogs, cheetahs and hyenas – are well represented and the general game viewing and bird watching is excellent

Day by day

Day 1:
Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport

Welcome to Tanzania

Once you set foot in Tanzanian soil, you will immediately be embraced by the friendly nature of the people. Outside our representative awaits with a broad simile to welcome you, and accompany you to the lodge where you will receive heartfelt welcome. During the journey, you will catch a glimpse of Tanzania amazing landscape, and perhaps the ever presence Impressive Mt. Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival, we will be provided with a briefing for your entire safari.

Day 2:
Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Breakfast: at the lodge

Morning:  The Rift Valley landscape drifts past as your guide heads for Tarangire National Park, the least visited reserve on the itinerary but one capable of delivering fantastic game viewing. Home to Tanzania’s biggest elephant population, Tarangire supports large numbers of buffalo, giraffe, zebra, and many antelope species, most evident during the dry season when concentrations of animals at the life-giving Tarangire River are at their peak June-October. Explore the park’s rich habitats from the life-giving River, a landscape dotted with baobab trees, swamps, and open plains at your own pace. Here you may see lion, cheetah, leopard, impala, and a good count of birdlife.

Lunch: picnic in the park

Afternoon: After lunch, we’ll continue our game-viewing drive to witness the wildlife of Tarangire National Park. Afterwards, we’ll head to our, permanent lodge in the midst of the wilderness.

Dinner: At the lodge.

Evening: You are free to remain in the lounge area or retire to your room, and rest to be ready for tomorrow’s discoveries.

Day 3:
Game viewing in Tarangire National Park

Breakfast: At the lodge.

Morning: We return to Tarangire National Park for a morning game-viewing drive. The variety of wildlife here is excellent, from lion, cheetah, zebra, and Cape buffalo to a wealth of birdlife. Elephants are plentiful here, traveling in large herds that are not often seen elsewhere in Africa. After several hours of game viewing, we’ll head to our lodge inside the Ngorongoro conservation area.

Lunch: We will enjoy a picnic lunch in the park.

Afternoon: After lunch, we’ll continue our game-viewing drive to witness the wildlife of Tarangire National Park. Afterwards, we’ll head to our lodgings, a permanent camp in the midst of the Ngorongoro conservation area.

Dinner: At the Camp.

Evening: You are free to remain in the lounge area or retire to your room, and rest to be ready for tomorrow’s discoveries.

Day 4:
Ngorongoro Crater Tour to Serengeti National Park

Breakfast: At the camp.

Morning: We drive through the Ngorongoro conservation before descending, 610 meters down to the grasslands of the crater floor, an area of about 265 square kilometers. Despite its small size, the Crater is a Big 5 country and the openness of the terrain means easy and rewarding game viewing. You will spend the day exploring the crater floor, stopping to picnic on the grasslands amidst the grazing herds. Formed by a massive volcanic eruption, the world’s largest intact and un-flooded caldera provides a year-round home to an astonishing 25,000 large mammals including black rhino, wildebeest, and zebra along with Africa’s densest concentrations of hyena.

The Crater’s forests shelter elephants and buffalo, and its wetlands are home to hippos and flamingos while lions, jackals, leopards, and caracals make up the full range of predators. After lunch, you leave the crater behind and drive to the Serengeti National Park.

Lunch: Picnic Lunch

Afternoon: We’ll reach our carefully selected tented camp by mid-afternoon and you’ll have time to settle in before dinner.

Dinner: At the camp.

Evening: You are free to remain in the main dining tent area or around the campfire to discuss the day’s wildlife.

Day 5:
Explore the Serengeti National Park

Breakfast: At the camp.

Morning: We’ll set out to explore the vast expanse of the Serengeti, where the wildlife sightings are typically at their peak in the early mornings and late afternoons, when the temperature cools. The multitude and diversity of wildlife species in this huge protected area are unrivaled anywhere on the planet. Serengeti, in fact, is the Maasai word that means “endless plain.” We’ll return to camp in between game-viewing drives for lunch.

Lunch: At the main dining tent.

Afternoon: After time to relax, we’ll head out on our afternoon game-viewing drive. Our guides will again help us identify the more elusive animal species, such as bat-eared fox and golden jackal, as well as rare birds like the purple grenadier and the red-cheeked cordon bleu. See if you can spot the odd-looking Secretary bird.

Dinner: At the main dining tent.

Evening: You are free to remain in the main dining tent area or around the campfire to discuss the day’s activities.

Day 6:
Explore the Serengeti Great Migration (Mara River Crossing)

Breakfast: at the camp

Morning: In the next two days, we’ll be venturing towards the northern region of Serengeti National Park, renowned for the world-famous River crossing at the Mara River.

Embark on an exhilarating chase after the great migration, one of the world most spectacular natural events. It’s the undisputed highlight of safari experience, and a dream come true for any wildlife enthusiasm.

Lunch: picnic in the sight of migration,

Witness the ground tremble as thousands upon thousands of hooves pound the earth, trying to cross the crocodile infested Mara-River in search of good grazing, and water. Meanwhile top-predators like crocodile, lion, leopard, hyena -and more await patently to strike.

Dinner: at the camp

Evening: Spend the nights in the so called –migration camp, strategically located close to the migration, ensuring you won’t miss a single moment of the action.

Day 7:
Serengeti North game-viewing drives

Breakfast: At the camp.

Morning: After an early breakfast, you will head out to make the most of the day. There is a chance you may see the animals crossing the Mara River. Hundreds of thousands of desperate wildebeest gather together on the banks of the river, gazing wistfully across the turbulent water at the green grass on the other side but no animal will make a move. All it takes is one brave wildebeest to take the literal plunge and, then, all follow! The animals that do successfully avoid the awaiting crocodile jaws and make it over the river are rewarded with the lush green grazing grass of the Masai Mara.

After the longer rainy season from April to June, they return to the northern Serengeti, and Masai Mara national reserve in Kenya. Apart from the migrating herds, we may have the opportunity to see the resident predators, leopard, cheetah, and lion, fulfilling their role in the circle of life.

Afternoon: Enjoy a couple of hours of free time before heading out for our final game-viewing excursion

Dinner: At the camp.

Evening: Spend the nights in the so called –migration camp, strategically located close to the migration, ensuring you won’t miss a single moment of the action.

Day 8:
Serengeti Fly-out to Arusha

Breakfast: at the camp

Morning: Enjoy a delightful breakfast before setting off to explore the banks of the Mara River on a guided game drive. The Mara River is the backdrop to the spectacular river crossing of the wildebeest migration when thousands of wildebeest attempt to cross these crocodile-infested waters. Our final game drive on the way to the airstrip for your flight to Arusha.

Suggestion.

You can extend your holiday with a visit to the crystal clear waters of the tropical Island of Zanzibar or Pemba.
