7 Days Luxury Grumeti Migration 4 Nights Serengeti Fly Out

This is a very special tour that concentrates in the Serengeti, to follow the great migration. You will spend at least 4 nights in the park, usually two in the Central Area (largest concentration of big cats), and two nights in the western corridor where the migration is between the months of (May –July). We have designed this particular tour so that you finish the safari in the most remote location in the Serengeti, and then fly from there to your next destination. But we can redesign it to return to Arusha by land.

Tour Highlights

  • Unrivalled Big 5 game viewing
  • Big 5 encounters at the famed Ngorongoro Crater
  • An authentic safari experience in the Serengeti
  • Glide on a Balloon safari in Serengeti and See the Great migration (optional)
  • Witness the great migration through the legendary Serengeti national park.

Day 3:
Ngorongoro Crater Tour to Serengeti National Park

Breakfast: At the camp.

Morning: We drive through the Ngorongoro conservation before descending, 610 meters down to the grasslands of the crater floor, an area of about 265 square kilometers. Despite its small size, the Crater is a Big 5 country and the openness of the terrain means easy and rewarding game viewing. You will spend the day exploring the crater floor, stopping to picnic on the grasslands amidst the grazing herds. Formed by a massive volcanic eruption, the world’s largest intact and un-flooded caldera provides a year-round home to an astonishing 25,000 large mammals including black rhino, wildebeest, and zebra along with Africa’s densest concentrations of hyena.

The Crater’s forests shelter elephants and buffalo, and its wetlands are home to hippos and flamingos while lions, jackals, leopards, and caracals make up the full range of predators. After lunch, you leave the crater behind and drive to the Serengeti National Park.

Afternoon: We’ll reach our carefully selected tented camp by mid-afternoon and you’ll have time to settle in before dinner.

Dinner: At the camp.

Evening: You are free to remain in the main dining tent area or around the campfire to discuss the day’s wildlife with other travelers, or retire to your tent to rest before tomorrow’s day of discoveries.

Lunch: At the main dining tent.

Afternoon: After time to relax, we’ll head out on our afternoon game-viewing drive. Our guides will again help us identify the more elusive animal species, such as bat-eared fox and golden jackal, as well as rare birds like the purple grenadier and the red-cheeked cordon bleu. See if you can spot the odd-looking Secretary bird or the elegant grey crowned crane.

Day 5:
Explore the Serengeti Great Migration (Grumeti River)

Breakfast: at the camp

This entire day is set aside for game drives upon the Serengeti. The Serengeti, the habitat of an abundance of wildlife such as impala, buffalo, elephant, giraffe, and hippo, is more well-known for its great migrating herds of zebra, and wildebeest. The animals’ game viewing is determined by the rainfall and varies from year to year. From (April to June) the animals move from the southern region, dominated by grassland, and to the west dominated by hills, and woodland.

During the longer rainy season from April to June, they return to the central. Apart from the migrating herds, we may have the opportunity to see the resident predators, leopard, cheetah, and lion, fulfilling their role in the circle of life.

After an unforgettable day, we will return to our carefully selected camp for relaxation, dinner, and our overnight sleep on The Endless Plain.

Two important river cross in this region and the permanent pools create by the grummet and the Mbalageti ensure that animals can be seen all the year round. Populations of elephant and giraffe, wildebeest baboons and lions are all resident here, but the migration sets a different scene entirely. Huge crocodiles lurk in anticipation of the river crossing looking to pick off wildebeest or two as their herds plunge into the waters for the other side, safety in numbers?
