This 9-days- itinerary takes you on a journey through Tanzania’s unrivaled wildlife destinations – Ndutu/short grass plains, the Ngorongoro Crater, and the fabled Serengeti – to deliver a dramatic and diverse big game safari.

Begin with the beautiful landscape of the short grass plains in Ndutu with its thousands of flamingos and awe-inspiring big cats sightings of lion, cheetah, and leopard before moving on to encounter the spectacle of the Ngorongoro Crater floor, home to the endangered black rhino. The sweeping plains of the Serengeti provide a backdrop for the tour’s grand finale. Game viewing is superb all year round, but if you have timed your safari with the wildebeest migration, you can expect a shoulder to shoulder masses herds and plenty of predator action, all the way to the Grumeti River waters with the 18-20 feet crocodiles waiting.

Day 1: Arrive at Kilimanjaro International airport.

Welcome to Tanzania, meet your guide for the drive to planet lodge. Nestled in the heart of Arusha, Planet Lodge will captivate you with the natural beauty of the Tanzanian landscape. Day 2-3: Arusha—Ndutu (Ngorongoro conservation area)

Leave planate lodge after a relaxed breakfast and head to Ndutu depending on the season, the two nights of your safari are spent at Ndutu safari lodge on the west of the Ngorongoro conservation, The less visited area of the reserve from the months of April-October after the migration has left, however, the busiest time here is from December-March when the great migration is around with the peak coming during the calving months of the end of January-February. Ndutu has the ‘ultimate amphitheater’ seats to the Wildebeest Migration when more than a million gnu thunder across the plains in search of fresh grazing. The calving season in February and March is a special time when millions of calves are born. Africa’s predators are attracted by the young calves and hunts are common. Even when the migration is not around game viewing is great for those who love the privacy and away from the crowd, its home to residence lions, cheetah, leopard, giraffe, hippos, hyena both striped and spotted, and the rare wild dogs.

Your accommodation-Ndutu safari Lodge- enjoys a prime position near Lake Ndutu and Lake Masek another draw for wildlife during drier times.

Day 4-6: Ngorongoro conservation—Serengeti national park (western corridor)

Day 7: Serengeti (western corridor)—Serengeti (Central)

Leave the western corridor behind and make your way to the iconic central section of Serengeti. You’ll be ending your days in Serengeti off with a bang in one of Africa’s premier big cats’ locations. And, if you’re here between May -June, you may get the chance to see one of nature’s greatest spectacles: the Wildebeest Migration. 

Serengeti mawe Tented Camp is an intimate, mobile camp that makes ‘roughing it’ in the African wild an absolute joy. Here, you’ll traverse the rugged landscape in search of the immense wildlife roaming the area, including cheetahs, lions, and elephants. You may even see a lion perched atop the nearby Gol Kopjes’ granite boulders, scanning the plains for their next meal. And, of course, if you plan your trip just right, Mawe Camp is on the migratory route, providing front-row seats to the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra as they go in search of better grazing.

Day 8-9: Serengeti National Park—Ngorongoro conservation

One night in the Ngorongoro conservation area

On your last day in Serengeti tread across the vast plains of the Serengeti National Park, accompanied by an enticing journeys guide and an armed park ranger, with great knowledge of the area and wildlife, it is the perfect setting to appreciate nature. The slow pace of the walk combined with the interpretative skills of the guides will open your eyes to a new and fascinating world. Stroll along paths walked by untamed wildlife and immerse yourself into the raw essence of life in the bush.

Spend 2-3 hours out in the bush, with the chance to encounter wildlife, such as giraffes, buffaloes, impala, and ostrich. These guided walks bring you closer to nature, leaving lasting impressions from an ancient culture, and an appreciation for a simpler way of life. After heading to the camp for breakfast and Leave Serengeti, you gain altitude as you are driven west and into the Ngorongoro Highlands. A packed lunch sustains you on the way, and before long you check into your accommodation-Farm of dreams lodge- The Lodge is located on the Western south Slopes of Ngorongoro Crater at about 1,400 feet above sea level; the Lodge sits in a garden of flowers and vegetables. The property offers spectacular sweeping views of the hills and close distant to the Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Eyasi, Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Park. The next day you sit back on a full day drive in the crater itself, on the lookout for Ngorongoro’s famous Big 5 as well as other animals ranging from hippos, hyenas to the impressive beautiful grey crowned cranes. After you’re long day of game viewing leave the crater behind and drive back to Arusha. Note on the last day (Dinner) is not included
