This 13-day safari combines the best of the northern circuit wildlife encounter in Tarangire, the Ngorongoro, the legendary Serengeti, and the wild Mahale National Park in Tanzania to leave you with some footprints in your life and everlasting memories to share.

The journey begins in the northern famous pristine wildlife areas Tarangire, the Ngorongoro, and the Serengeti which will offer tremendous big game sightings, and if you time it well you may see the great wildebeest migration in the fable Serengeti National Park.

After your fill of elephants, buffalo, and big cats, the experience moves to Kigoma hilltop and Mbali Mbali Mahale camp, spend time unveiling the history of Ujiji and Dr. Livingstone monuments before moving to Mahale and spend time with chimps, to get to the only habituated group one has to climb up through mountain forest and when you find them the experience is extraordinary to the point of bizarre, see chimps going on with their lives-walking, sleeping, fighting, politicking and eating. It’s a journey that connects you with nature.

Day by Day.

Day 1-2: Tarangire National Park

“Elephant’s paradise”

After a relaxed breakfast, you leave for Tarangire national park for two days of game viewing, the park landscape is dotted with huge baobab trees some believed to be over 700 years, and however, during the dry season the elephants debark the trees to get some moisture out of them. Tarangire is on its peak during the months of June-October, this is when the seasonal migration of wildebeest, zebra, and elands are on the peak and the life-giving Tarangire River calls them since all the water pools outside the park are all dry. Game viewing during these months is amazing especially big cats lions, cheetah, and leopards. The park is also home to the biggest elephant population with the number estimated to be 2500, other animals include giraffe, impala, baboon, buffalo, and antelope species including the fringe-eared Oryx and lesser kudu.

Day 3-4: Tarangire national park –Ngorongoro highlands

Two days exploring Ngorongoro conservation area

Leaving Tarangire, you gain altitude as you are driven north and into the Ngorongoro Highlands. A packed lunch sustains you on the way, and before long you check into your- Accommodation Marera valley lodge-lies in the heart of a rich farming area and boasts a lovely country setting with beautiful landscaping. After Settling you can relax at the swimming pool, and enjoy the bird’s songs. The next day you sit back on a full day drive in the crater itself, you will drive into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and down into the Ngorongoro Crater. Grass steppes, acacia forests, Rivers, swamps and Magadi Lake is home to almost all the species of animals found in the East African savannah. In only a few hours, you have the chance of spotting four of the big five – lion, Elephant, Buffalo, and Rhino. After extensive game viewing and a picnic in the crater, you will leave the Ngorongoro Crater in the afternoon and travel back to Karatu to spend another night at Marera valley lodge.

DAY 5- 7: Ngorongoro highlands—Serengeti national park.

Three days exploring Serengeti central and western (corridor)

The final stop on your northern Tanzanian wilderness tour is none other than the iconic Serengeti. You’ll be ending your trip off with a bang in one of Africa’s premier safari destinations. And, if you’re here between May and July, you may get the chance to see one of nature’s greatest spectacles: the Wildebeest Migration. 

 Serengeti Tortillis Tented Camp is an intimate, permanent camp parched on the woodlands of central Serengeti ‘roughing it’ in the African wild an absolute joy. Here, you’ll have three full days, one of the days you will make your way to the Grumeti River and search for the 18-20 feet crocodile, the area is home to black and white colobus monkeys, lion, cheetah, eland, topi, giraffe and hundreds of hippos. On our third day make your way to the central Serengeti for up-close of the big cats who lord the plains and here the rewards are always very high, traverse the rugged landscape in search of the immense wildlife roaming the area, including cheetahs, leopard, and elephant. You may even see a lion perched atop the nearby Maasai Kopjes’ granite boulders, scanning the plains for their next meal. And, of course, if you plan your trip just right, Serengeti Tortillis camp is on the migratory route, providing front-row seats to the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra as they go in search of better grazing.

Day 8: Serengeti national park- Mwanza-Dar es Salaam.

After breakfast leaving central Serengeti behind your head to the western corridor, with some nice picnic lunch packed to sustain you on the way, game viewing around the Grumeti River is always good year around, The area is home to the 18-20 feet crocodile, elephants, hippos, buffaloes, giraffe, lions, and colobus monkey. After a nice picnic lunch, you leave the park and head to Mwanza for your flight to Dar es Salaam.

Day 9: Dar es Salaam—Kigoma.

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Kigoma, on arrival you will be met by an enticing journeys representative and drive to Kigoma hilltop hotel for lunch. Kigoma hilltop hotel is parched on the shows of Lake Tanganyika. After settling into your accommodation and a nice lunch you will proceed and visit Dr. Livingstone monument in Ujiji the place where Richard Burton and John Speke first reached the shores of Lake Tanganyika in 1858. It is the site of the famous meeting held on 27th October 1871 when Henry Stanley met Dr. Livingstone, and reputedly uttered the famous words “Dr. Livingstone, I presume?” You will visit the Monument, museum and see the slave route.

Day 10-11: Kigoma –Mahale National park.

Bid farewell to Kigoma hilltop hotel as you drive to Mgambo village for a boat journey to Mbali Mbali Mahale camp, your accommodation-Mbali mbali Mahale- Set deep in the heart of the African interior on a stretch of secluded golden beach, is the perfect blend of comfort and luxury in a romantic setting. Mahale is a pristine, natural experience open to those willing to walk its trails. The birds, primates, monkeys, small predators and butterflies, all offer signs of life and there is little that beats an amble through the forest. Spend two days of living in the wild.

Take off your shoes and allow your toes to sink into the sand, cast off the world behind, and enter the spirit of this extraordinary place. With no roads in the vicinity, there are only animal paths and jungle trails to wander. Nine species of primate inhabit this ancient forest but the chimpanzees that live here are the main attraction: a trek into their territory with an experienced guide for an encounter that will hold you in spellbound fascination as our closest living relatives play, forage and behave in an all-too-familiar manner. In the afternoon jump into the boat for an up-close bird watching and fishing expedition on the second deepest lake in the world after Lake Baikal.

Day 12-13: Mahale Mountains national park—Kigoma

Leaving Mahale behind after great memories of encountering our closest relative we head to Kigoma hilltop hotel for dinner and overnight. We start with a boat ride followed by a road transfer to Kigoma. The next day after a relaxed breakfast you leave the hotel and drive to the airport for your flight to Dar es Salaam. It’s time to memories the wonderful moments you had in Tanzania tracking the chimps, elephants in Tarangire, the big five in Ngorongoro, and of course the great sightings of the big cats in the fable Serengeti national park, land in Julius Nyerere International Airport, and connect your flight home. Note No Dinner and accommodation on the Last day.
